Regulation (EC) No 1393/2007 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the service in the Member States of judicial and extrajudicial documents in civil or commercial matters (service of documents), and repealing Council Regulation (EC) No 1348/2000
European Regulation No 1393/2007 ("Service Regulation 2007") governs the cross border service of judicial and extrajudicial documents in civil or commercial matters between EU Member States. It repealed and replaced the previous Council Regulation 1348/2000, the provisions of which were recast. The Service Regulation 2007 applies from 13 August 2008 to all civil procedures including family matters and maintenance obligations. It applies between all member states. Denmark acceded to the Council Regulation 1348/2000 through conclusion of an Agreement with the EU from 19 October 2005 (OJ 2005 L 300, 55) and confirmed its adoption of amendments in the Service Regulation 2007 in a letter to the European Commission, dated 20 November 2007 (OJ 2008 L 331, 21).
