Modern civil law is in many areas international uniform law. International uniform law overcomes the narrowness of national laws. It creates uniform rules for an open world of international trade, international carriage, international intellectual and industrial property, of international civil procedure law and private international law but also of family law and parental responsibility and protection of children. The development of uniform law has particularly progressed in a Europe characterised by the European legal harmonisation within the EU.
unalex builds up the international library of the international uniform law.
unalex is fundamentally multilingual and is not linked to any single legal system. Besides the Case law and literature relating to the international uniform law,
unalex provides the international practice with the European commentary, systematic legal comments of certain uniform law instruments.

The building up of the
unalex multilingual library requires the broad scientific processing of the information in several languages. As this process will take some time,
unalex has developed the “best language” principle: it chooses for you the language which you understand the most among the available language versions. Hence, even if
unalex cannot yet provide you with information in your own language, you can nevertheless have access to it in another language of your choice.
